The Homestead was developed in 1992 through the cooperative efforts of Washington, Norwich, and Brown township trustees. This 44-acre park offers a quiet, country atmosphere with a covered bridge, train station replica, caboose, and two barns. Other features include event shelters with barbecue grills, a 2 ½ -acre stocked pond for fishing, playground equipment, volleyball and basketball courts, tether ball, horseshoe pit, water feature play area, restrooms, and refreshment vending machines.
A ¾-mile paved trail, that is great for walking, biking, or running, ambles through the park and connects to the seven-mile Heritage Rail Trail, which runs from historic downtown Hilliard to Plain City. The Parks and Recreation Office is also located in this park.
During the summer months, a free series of entertaining performances is offered in the outdoor amphitheater. Several family oriented special events are held throughout the year. Residents of Washington, Norwich, and Brown Township may take advantage of an affordable option to secure one of our convenient pavilions. The covered bridge and amphitheater can be reserved for special events such as weddings and Girl Scout bridging ceremonies. Shelter amenities include electricity, tables, refuse receptacles, and grills.
Pavilions can be reserved for dates from mid-April through October. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance. Any shelter or other facility not specifically reserved is open for public use on a first-come, first-served basis.
