Station 92

Station 92 is located at 4497 Hard Road.

Station 92 is the newest of the Department's four fire stations, dedicated in 1998.

Station 92 - Hard Road

This is a birds-eye view of the apparatus bay. In the background is Rescue 92, which is equipped with extrication equipment. One of the Department's three boats, used for water rescues, is also assigned here. The yellow tubes suspended from elevated bars are used to divert carbon monoxide from the vehicles' exhaust pipes to the outdoors when the trucks are running. They are placed on the exhaust pipes when the trucks are parked and automatically release as the trucks pull out of the bay.

Equipment Bay

The gear room houses all the gear for the station's firefighters who are not on duty. Each firefighter is issued protective coat, pants, gloves, helmet, boots, self-contained breathing apparatus, face mask, and a number of hand tools. Fully equipped, a firefighter's personal protection equipment weighs in excess of 50 pounds and costs approximately $4000 per person.

Bunker Gear Storage

This station's emergency generator enables the fire station to have uninterrupted electricity in the event of a power failure. This back up power is essential in maintaining communications and other equipment during power outages.

This is not an average living room. It is also used as the station's training room and meeting area.

Living Area

The community room is used for CPR training, staff meetings, and station tours. It can be reserved by residents for fire station birthday parties and meetings. The room can accommodate up to 20 comfortably.

Station 92 also serves as a Dublin Police substation. This is just one example of the many partnerships the Fire Department has with the City of Dublin that promotes efficiency in operations.

The extractor is a specialized machine used to clean or extract contaminants from firefighter gear.

Specialized Gear Cleaning

After each use, the hose on this engine/rescue must be reloaded so it can be deployed quickly the next time it is needed. The metal tray holding the hose is stored in a compartment on the vehicle and is removable in order to facilitate ease of loading. The hose is about 200 feet long and weighs approximately 150 lbs.

This room is used only to clean or decontaminate firefighters or their equipment if necessary. Potential contaminants could range from hazardous materials such as chemicals and diesel fuel to blood and residues from fires. This room is also equipped with a emergency shower to be used in case of exposures to chemicals.

Infectious Control Room

Three meals a day are prepared here for the seven on-duty firefighters assigned each day. Firefighters are on duty for 24 hours, during which time they must plan, shop for, and prepare their meals. Three shifts of firefighters rotate on 24 hour shifts followed by 48 hours off duty. Each of the three shifts has its own food pantry.

Kitchen

Station officers are responsible for the daily operations of the firehouse. This office is the administrative hub for the station. Records, procedure and training manuals, reports, emergency action plans, employee records, and map books are just a few of the many documents that are kept here. The cabinet behind the chair opens to a fold-out bed for the on-duty officer.
