Protect Your Business Facility with a Knox Box

Knox Boxes® are small, wall-mounted safes that holds building keys for firefighters and EMTs to retrieve in emergencies when no one is present to open a door (i.e. after business hours during evenings and weekends).

Knox Boxes® are mounted outdoors in proximity to an entrance, where first responders can access them. The keys to the Knox Boxes® are in radio signal controlled locked boxes in each of the Township's emergency vehicles. When requested, Dublin Police Emergency Dispatchers send a radio signal to Fire Department vehicles which opens the box and releases the master key for use in the Knox Box®.

For businesses, having a Knox Box® has its advantages, especially for those that aren't staffed 24 hours. Without staff to allow entry into a building where there is an emergency, Knox Boxes® allow rapid key access and entry into the building that is faster, safer, and causes less property damage than forced entry.

Calls for fire alarms, gas leaks, smoke, lightning strikes and the like can all be investigated safely and securely without the need for a businesses to incur personnel costs to staff a building around the clock or repair damage from forced entry.

If you have a question about Knox Boxes® or would like the Fire Department to assess whether your business facility would benefit from one, contact the Fire Prevention Department at 614-652-3920.
